How Does Live-In Care Work?

Live-in care works by having a fully trained carer live in your home to provide help with your day-to-day needs. They typically work a set number of hours each day (usually 10–12), and are available for emergency or occasional night-time support if needed.

The carer gets their own room and breaks during the day. They support with tasks like washing, dressing, cooking, cleaning, mobility, managing medication and running errands.

Kelly or Marisa will personally visit you to understand your lifestyle, preferences and needs. They select and introduce a carer we think you’ll get on well with. You’ll meet them before care begins, and your match is carefully chosen, not just assigned.

How Much Does Live-In Care Cost?

Applicable from 1 Jan 2024

The cost of live-in care depends on how much support you need and how many hours a day you require help. Rates start from just under £1,600 per week, with flexible packages depending on your individual care plan.

If you choose Kemble at Home, one of our team comes to live with you in your own home and can help out day and night. Our live-in carers work an agreed average number of hours per 24-hour period. We will agree together with you whether you will receive 10, 11, or 12 hours of support on average per day.

The rates for the different options are as follows:

Daily Hours & Rates

The rates for live-in care start at just under £1,600 per week.

Holiday Rates

On public holidays, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday, we charge 50% above the standard weekday rates.
On Christmas Eve (from Noon), Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve (from Noon) and New Year’s Day, we charge double the standard weekday rates.

Travel Costs

No charge for clients living within Hereford City.
Further afield, we calculate a fee per visit that is based on distance from Hereford City, to cover our staff’s travel costs and their travel time.
When our staff make travel costs on request of the client (e.g. for outings or errands), we charge 40 pence per mile to cover their costs.
